Pilatus Aircraft has marked a major milestone with the groundbreaking of its new flagship U.S. facility in Sarasota. This development represents the first phase of the company’s long-term expansion strategy in the region and underscores its continued investment in the United States aviation market.
The new facility will serve as a comprehensive Sales, Service, and Production Center, designed to elevate customer experience, operational efficiency, and technical expertise. Future expansion phases are expected to include full aircraft assembly capabilities, positioning Sarasota as a key production hub for Pilatus in North America.
CEO Markus Bucher emphasized the strategic importance of the project, stating that it marks a new chapter for Pilatus in the U.S. By bringing aircraft production closer to its American customer base, the company aims to enhance responsiveness, reduce delivery timelines, and strengthen its market presence. The Sarasota site will become Pilatus’ fifth U.S. location and is expected to set new benchmarks in quality, technology, and service standards across the southeastern United States.
The project reflects strong collaboration between Pilatus and regional stakeholders, including the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority and the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, along with other local and state partners. This partnership has been instrumental in enabling the development and ensuring long-term economic benefits for the region.
As part of its broader U.S. strategy, Pilatus consolidated all its American subsidiaries into a single entity, Pilatus Aircraft USA Ltd, effective January 1, 2026. This unified organization now employs around 400 personnel and integrates operations across multiple locations, including its headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado, as well as facilities in Maryland, South Carolina, and Georgia.
The Sarasota expansion is expected to generate approximately 200 new jobs in Florida over the next five years, further strengthening the local aerospace workforce. Additionally, Pilatus plans to expand its apprenticeship programs across its U.S. sites, supporting skills development and workforce growth in the aviation sector.
With a growing fleet of over 2,300 Pilatus aircraft operating across North and South America, demand for models such as the Pilatus PC-12 and Pilatus PC-24 continues to rise. The new Sarasota facility will play a crucial role in meeting this demand while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
Importantly, the expansion will complement rather than replace operations at Pilatus’ Swiss headquarters, ensuring balanced global growth. Overall, this investment highlights Pilatus’ commitment to strengthening its footprint in the U.S. and delivering enhanced value to its customers through localized production and support capabilities.
