StandardAero has successfully completed its first performance restoration shop visit (PRSV) for a CFM LEAP-1A, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expanding LEAP engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. The engine, owned by AerCap, underwent full pass-off testing at StandardAero’s San Antonio, Texas facility, demonstrating the maturity and readiness of its LEAP support program.

The serviced LEAP-1A engine powers an Airbus A320neo aircraft within AerCap’s extensive portfolio. As one of the world’s largest aviation leasing companies, AerCap manages a fleet of approximately 1,700 aircraft, including over 350 LEAP-powered Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Leasing companies like AerCap play a critical role in global aviation, accounting for nearly half of the commercial aircraft fleet worldwide.

The successful completion of this PRSV highlights StandardAero’s growing expertise in supporting next-generation engines for a global customer base spanning North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and beyond. Rebecca Lane, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at StandardAero, emphasized that this milestone reinforces the company’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of LEAP operators worldwide. She also acknowledged AerCap’s trust and collaboration in achieving this important development.

StandardAero’s San Antonio facility, spanning over 810,000 square feet, serves as a key hub for LEAP engine services. The company became a CFM LEAP Premier MRO provider after signing the first non-airline CFM Branded Service Agreement (CBSA) in the Americas for both LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines in 2023. Since then, it has expanded its service portfolio, including quick-turn shop visits (QTSV) introduced in 2024 and the successful correlation of its first LEAP test cell, enabling advanced maintenance capabilities such as PRSV.

Beyond engine overhauls, StandardAero is actively advancing component repair capabilities for the LEAP engine family through its global Component Repair Services (CRS) network and dedicated Repair Development Center of Excellence. To date, the company has industrialized more than 450 component repairs, strengthening its ability to deliver cost-effective and efficient maintenance solutions.

In parallel, StandardAero continues to invest in workforce development through its in-house Aviation Mechanic Training Program at its San Antonio Training Academy. This initiative ensures a steady pipeline of skilled technicians capable of supporting the growing global LEAP engine fleet.

This achievement underscores StandardAero’s strategic focus on next-generation engine support, positioning the company as a key independent provider in the competitive aerospace aftermarket landscape while enhancing reliability and lifecycle performance for operators worldwide.
